Despite a superb start to their 2020 Indian Premier League campaign, the 2008 edition champions Rajasthan Royals have found themselves in a muck. Despite two back to back wins in their first two matches in UAE with substantial batting performance, the franchise has consecutively lost all of its remaining matches and are currently ducked at 7th position of the table.

However, one player that has shined above the rest of the team with remarkable consistency is Jos Buttler. The English wicket-keeper has scored 117 runs out of his four IPL 2020 appearances, with a 148.10 strike rate.

Brag Hogg sheds praise on Jos Buttler for his consistency

Jos Buttler joined the RR squad after their first win against CSK. Despite their win against KXIP, Buttler’s first IPL 2020 match saw him scoring only four. In their following defeats against KKR and RCB, the England international scored 21 and 22 runs respectively.

However, Buttler displayed his prowess against Mumbai Indians on Tuesday. Although RR lost the match against the defending champions, the 30-year-old landed a blistering score of 70 runs from just 44 balls including four fours and five sixes, eating up the MI bowling squad.

Brad Hogg, who himself played for Rajasthan Royals from 2012 to 2014 and for KKR from 2015 to 2016, shed appreciation over Buttler.

“Buttler becoming Mr Reliable,” the former Aussie allrounder tweeted on Wednesday.

Hogg indicates ‘uncharacteristic’ play from RR captain Steve Smith

Notably, in the same tweet, Hogg also pointed out how the RR skipper Steve Smith’s game has been out of character and hints the ‘bio-bubble’ that of the teams that could be the reason.

“Smith, the last three games he has gone away from the way he sets his innings up, playing rash shots that are uncharacteristic. It maybe an issue of been in the Bubble atmosphere,” Hogg added.

Rajasthan Royals will next face Delhi Capitals tomorrow at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
