Boxing: Luis Ortiz targeting Tyson Fury showdown

125

World title challenger Luis Ortiz is not just looking for any old kind of comeback fight. Ortiz is entertaining a showdown with 6’9″ former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury who recently scored a TKO after a three-year absence. While this fight is surely not to happen anytime soon, this would be a welcomed match-up from boxing fans.

With Fury scheduled to return August 18, Jay Jimenez (manager for Ortiz) stated his fighter is more than ready to go for that date. Alexander Povetkin, who is a possibility for Anthony Joshua next, is also on Ortiz’s radar.

Ortiz was brutally stopped in his last fight against Deontay Wilder in a sold out Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. Although Ortiz said he wanted a rematch, that never came into fruition

Regardless of who Ortiz faces next, it’s good to hear he is ready for the best in the division. Taking a step down in competition does not appear to be one of his top interests
