Lovlina beat Assunta Canfora 3-2 to secure her gold medal. It was a fitting finale as the Assamese had quite recently only lost to Canfora in the Indian Open finals. This medal marks only her third for this year after silver in Indian Open and bronze in Strandja Cup.

Neeraj on the other hand continued with the fine form as her brilliant run in the tournament finally ended in a gold medal. Initially she had stunned everyone after beating the former world champion Alessia Mesiano 3-2. In the finals, it was against Russia’s Malika Shakhidova where she registered a convincing 3-0 victory.

The gold count stopped there as the other boxers had to settle for either silver or bronze. Gaurav Solanki fell to Uzbekistan’s Abdulkhay Sharakhmatov 0-5 and had to be content with a silver medal.

The likes of Pooja Rani (75Kg), Govind Sahani (49Kg) and Jony (60Kg) settled for a bronze medals. Pooja saw her campaign come to an end by courtesy of Anna Anfinogenova in a closely contested semifinal.

Both Govind and Jony lost to Kurban Bayranbekov and Natalya Shadrina by the scoreline 1-4 respectively. Thus India ended their campaign with six medals that included two gold, one silver and three bronze.
