Eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao is all set to make his ring return under completely new promotional, management and network banner. Pacquiao is set to fight former four division world champion Adrien Broner in January early next year on Showtime PPV.

Last month, Pacquiao split with his longtime promoter Bob Arum and joined Al Haymon’s stable. He also fired his longtime trainer Freddie Roach.

Roach was asked about his thoughts on the upcoming matchup between Pacquiao and Broner.

Umm, that’s a pretty good fight. I wouldn’t pick a winner in that. I think that Pacquiao should win the fight but, um, at ‘47 I’m not [sure] — I’m not involved anymore so I’m not in the mix, so I don’t know what he’s doing. So it’s hard for me to give you an answer without being there.”

Pacquiao (60-7-2, 39 KOs) is most recently coming off a stoppage win over Lucas Matthysse in July in a thrilling fight which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

I saw the Matthysse fight, he looked like he fought very well and, I mean, Broner is nothing like that, though. I mean, there’s no similarities at all with those two really opposite guys.”

I thought he looked very good. Yeah.”
