Boxing: Carl Frampton Windsor Park Opponent May Have Just Revealed Himself

Carl Frampton‘s Windsor Park opponent will be confirmed tomorrow afternoon but the man that will be in the opposite corner on August 18th looks to have revealed himself.

As expected, Australian featherweight Luke Jackson [16(7)-0] will be the opponent for Frampton’s dream night. A managerial stablemate of Frampton [25(14)-1(0)], Jackson had been put forward by adviser Mike Altamura last month. Last weekend Irish boxing writer Kevin Byrne reported that the Tasmanian would indeed be the opponent – however, Frampton’s promoter Frank Warren would later claim that they were in discussions with a number of opponents and that nothing had been confirmed yet.

All the while, 33-year-old Jackson has been hinting at a big announcement on his social media channels and tonight confirmed that he is in Belfast.

Although not officially announced as Frampton’s opponent, the above seems to be too much of a coincidence given the fact the pair are in the same weight category and previous murmurings of Jackson had been mentioned in boxing circles.

Plus the fact he’s literally flown 24 hours just to get to the same city where Frampton’s fight will be on August 18th.

The plot thickens, as they say, ahead of what should be a special night of boxing in one of the best fight cities in the world – Belfast.
