Indian boxers continued their good run at the 36th Golden Glove of Vojvodina youth tournament taking place in Serbia with 13 of them qualifying to the final stage of which 6 of them are women.
Amongst the man Akash Kumar (56kg), Ankit (60kg), Akash (64kg), Vijaydeep (69kg), and Nitin Kumar (75kg) entered the final. Akash Kumar defeated John Casey of Scotland and Ankit defeated Alex Jacab of Hungary.
Vijaydeep too pulled off a unanimous verdict in his clash against local favorite Milan Vrankovic. In the middleweight division, Nitin ousted another crowd favorite, Filip Dzinic, with a 5-0 win. In the 64kg category, Akash blanked Poland’s Daniel Piotrowski 5-0.
Jyoti Gulia (51kg) out-punched Russian Liubov Makeeva 5-0 in her semifinal bout. Nitu (48kg), Divya Pawar (54kg), Manisha (64kg), Lalita (69kg), Neha Yadav (+81kg) are the other finalists. Neha Yadav got the direct sport into the final because of the small size of her weight class draw.
Settling for Bronze Medal were Sakshi (51kg), Sakshi Gaidhani (81kg) and Bhavesh Kittamani (52kg)
