Beverage giant Coca-Cola announces 5-year partnership with ICC

Beverage giant Coca-Cola spends millions on sponsoring sporting events around the world every year. Coca-Cola has been sponsoring the Super Bowl, FIFA World cup, Olympics and several other regional events.

Cricket is the latest edition in the list of sponsors for Coca-Cola. They have announced a 5-year partnership with the International Cricket Council.

The five-year sponsorship includes all ICC events around the world, including the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 in England and Wales, the ICC Men’s and Women’s T20 World Cups in Australia in 2020, the ICC Women’s World Cup 2021 in New Zealand and the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India in 2023 among other global tournaments.

T Krishnakumar, President, Coca-Cola India and South West Asia said, “ Cricket is a global sport and growing in its reach. With our focus being on building a consumer-centric portfolio, this partnership gives us a unique opportunity to engage with our consumers.

Cricket has a viable audience of around the world. According to a study conducted by Nielsen Sports for the International Cricket Council (ICC), put the number of cricket fans at 1.039 billion – mostly male, living in South Asia, and with an average age of 34.

That’s over a billion fans watching cricket whom the beverage giant wants to connect directly with.
