In case the deal is set to go through, the 19-year-old will become the fifth most expensive signing in the history of football. Also Felix will be the second most expensive teenager after Kylian Mbappe.
Felix caught everyone’s eye after making his debut for Benfica this season. The young sensation amassed 15 goals for the club this term attracting immediate interest from some of the European giants. His hat-trick against Frankfurt this season in the Europa League saw him establish himself as the youngest player ever to score three goals in Europe.
“Atletico Madrid submitted a proposal for the acquisition of [Felix] for a total amount of 126,000,000 euros which is being analysed,” a statement from Benfica read.
Felix is primarily a striker but his versatility to play in multiple positions has seen him play even as a attacking midfielder or a winger. He made his international debut for Portugal in the Nations League semi final this month and went on to express his excitement in playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
