BCCI and Byju's renew jersey sponsorship deal till 2023

The existing deal between the two parties was slated to end with the ongoing Sri Lanka series. The BCCI Apex Council approved the deal which will see Byju’s be a part of the Indian jersey till 2023.

Byju’s had replaced the Chinese mobile firm Oppo as the primary sponsor in September 2019. The BCCI had released a statement, confirming the switch in sponsorship.

“BYJU’S will be taking over all obligations of the current team sponsor OPPO mobiles India private limited. The BCCI is pleased to welcome India’s leading education and learning app BYJU’S as the official Team India sponsor from 5th September, 2019 until 31st March, 2022,”

As per the existing deal, Byju’s are paying the BCCI a sum of INR 4.61 crore for a bilateral game and Rs 1.56 for an international fixture. It is yet to be confirmed whether the numbers remain the same following the new deal between BCCI and Byju’s.

Apart from the jersey sponsorship, there was also a switch in the kit sponsor from Nike to the leading gaming app, MPL.

India will continue to sport Byju’s on their jerseys for their upcoming assignments in the ongoing calendar year. The Men In Blue are scheduled to tour England, host South Africa and Bangladesh before the T20 World Cup in Australia.

The team first sported the jersey in the home series against South Africa. After the break induced by the pandemic, India came out with a retro jersey inspired by the iconic kit sported by the country at the 1992 World Cup.
