Board of Control of Cricket in India(BCCI) had organized this year’s Indian Premier League(IPL) maintaining all the protocols necessary regarding COVID-19.

But, with the situation getting worse in India with the passing of every single day, the overseas players playing in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) have raised concerns over their stay in India. The reason they are much more concerned is the fact that the country is suffering to provide proper medical facilities and they are panicking over their return to their home country.

BCCI assures the overseas players

Adding up to the woes, three Australian players, Andrew Tye (Rajasthan Royals) and the duo of Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa (both Royal Challengers Bangalore) have decided to pull out their names from the ongoing IPL season. The Australian government had also announced that all flights from India have been banned.

Amid the concerns, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) assured the overseas players over the matter. They addressed a letter that stated they would take the necessary steps to ensure that the players and support staffs are able to reach their home country after the conclusion of IPL.

In the letter, BCCI COO Hemang Amin addressed: “We understand that many of you are apprehensive about how you will get back home once the tournament concludes… We want to apprise you that you have nothing to worry about.”

It also read: “The BCCI will do everything to ensure that you reach your respective destinations seamlessly. The BCCI is monitoring the situation very closely and is working with the government authorities to make arrangements to get you home once the tournament concludes.”

He further assured that “the tournament is not over for BCCI till each one of you has reached your home, safe and sound.” 

Amin also heaped praise on the players for playing despite facing such a difficult time and entertaining the fans across India.
