The Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) announced the Indian women’s squad for the upcoming tour of England which will see a one-off Test match, 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. Veteran Indian batswoman Mithali Raj will lead the side in the Test and ODIs with Harmanpreet Kaur as the vice-captain.

BCCI hands chance to Shafali Verma and Shikha Pandey

Amid the tension in the management and a tiff between the senior players, selectors and former coaches, BCCI brought back Ramesh Powar as the women’s team coach. The selection panel was led by Neetu David.

There have been arguments over the selection of teen players in the squad for the upcoming England series. Teen batting sensation Shafali Verma and pacer Shikha Pandey were dropped out of the squad after the South Africa home series. However, they have made their way back in the squad once again and the squad for the upcoming series was announced on Friday.

The exclusion of the young players from the squad had previously led to some turmoil and it caused outbursts. However, that is not the case anymore as the Board is now planning to build a strong squad including the youngsters who will help them in the long run.
