Team India have geared up for the upcoming four-match Test series against England and they have already cleared the first of their 3 RT-PCR tests for COVID-19 as well. However, they can only join the training that will begin from February 2 in Chennai if their next two Tests come negative for the global pandemic novel coronavirus.

However, India will host England in a four-match Test series, which is scheduled to start February 5 in Chennai. After that, they will take on each other in the limited-overs series as well where they will play a five-match One Day International series and three-match Twety20 International series as well. The first two Tests will take place in Chennai before the action shifts to Ahmedabad for the next two Tests and a day-night match as well.

According to the Press Trust of India, both India and England players have arrived in Chennai earlier this week and they are staying at Leela Palace in the city. Reports further suggested that they are restricted to their hotel rooms in a bio-bubble which is more or less similar to the ones in the Indian Premier League last year in the UAE. Howveer, the players are allowed to do some physical exercise in their rooms under the guidance of the two strength and conditioning experts – Nick Webb and Soham Desai.

On the other hand, with this fixture, international cricket will return to India for the first time since COVID-19 pandemic brought the entire world into a standstill last year. Notably, the Test series is a part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle as well.

While the situation has become better of COVID-19, players have given permission by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to stay with their families during their quarantine period in Chennai. This is certainly welcome news for them as they have been away from him for a long time, at first due to IPL 2020 and then the recently-concluded Australia series.
