Baroda cricket team made history by smashing the world record for the highest total in T20 cricket, scoring an astounding 349 for 5 against Sikkim in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match held in Indore. This remarkable achievement surpassed Zimbabwe’s previous record of 344 for 4 against Gambia in Nairobi earlier in October 2024.
Baroda’s innings was a display of sheer dominance, featuring 37 sixes, breaking another record previously held by Zimbabwe, which had hit 27 sixes in an innings.

The foundation for Baroda’s mammoth total was laid by an explosive 92-run opening partnership between Shashwat Rawat and Abhimanyusingh Rajput within the powerplay. Bhanu Pania then took the innings to another level, scoring a century off just 42 balls, including 15 sixes. Pania’s innings was a masterclass in power-hitting, as he reached his first fifty off 20 balls and his second off 22 balls, finishing unbeaten on 134 off 51 balls with a strike rate of 262.75.
Contributions from Shivalik Sharma and Vishnu Solanki further bolstered Baroda’s total, with Sharma scoring 55 off 17 balls and Solanki 50 off 16 balls before being dismissed in the 17th over. Despite Hardik Pandya’s absence from the game, Baroda managed to break the world record, showcasing their depth and firepower.
