Barcelona entice de Ligt to join club, offer bountiful contract till 2024

Barcelona’s attempts to land high in demand Ajax defender Matthijs de Ligt have been revamped to the next level as the club’s hierarchy at the top plan an excellent contract draft to present to the player and his agent. Some stipulations, however, remain quite identical to that of compatriot Frenkie de Jong’s.

De Ligt has been on the transfer radar of many a big club including PSG, Juventus and Manchester United, but it is the La Liga champions, Barcelona, who appear to be in pole position to land the highly rated young talent in the summer.

Preparations at the Camp Nou have been going on in full force for de Ligt’s signature, and the Catalan side aim too woo the Dutch international with an excellent, bumper contract, the draft of which is being prepared to send it to the Ajax defender and his agent, Mino Raiola, in order to commence official talks.

Spanish media outlet sport.es report that a 5-year deal running till June 2024 will be on the table, alongside financial bonuses planned which will be awarded based on the performances de Ligt will be putting in. This financial clause, among others, is quite identical to that of de Ligt’s fellow Ajax teammate and friend, Frenkie de Jong, who also has been signed by Barca.

The La Liga giants will try to convince Ajax based on a proposal of €60m, plus a series of bonuses by objectives.

The 19-year old central midfielder, though, will be staying focused on the pitch as Ajax face a tough battle against Juventus in the Champions League’s quarter finals’ second leg next week, following which, contract negotiations will commence.
