French striker Antoine Griezmann is set to depart his former club Atletico Madrid and sign with Barcelona for the upcoming La Liga season. The deal will kick off on July when Griezmann’s release clause kicks off.
Barcelona, however, will have to pay a transfer fee of €120 million which is mentioned in the release clause. Griezmann was set to sign for the Catalan club last season itself but negotiations broke down in the final stages.

As a result, the Frenchman renewed his contract with Atletico which kept him till 2023. But, Barcelona is set to trigger his release clause and shorten his stay.
However, this move raises doubts on Barcelona’s impending move to buy Neymar Jr. They were hell-bent on bringing back the Brazilian but they have enough budget only to spend heavily on one player.
Griezmann’s impending move to Barcelona silences Neymar Jr’s move. So, either Neymar has to agree for a pay cut to stay in PSG or find another club.
