Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena has come under heavy fire from some fans on Instagram, following his reply to an Ousmane Dembele post which was mostly light banter in way, but something that certainly didn’t go down well with his teammate. This aforementioned reply, though not intended in that way, was clearly seen as racist by many.
The whole situation surrounding this discrimination has been taken up with utmost responsibility by a majority of the footballing world, especially since the case has been on high rise in the past few month, even on the international level most notably when a lot of the England national team players were abused in their 5-1 rout of Montenegro.
However, one might look at Alena’s case as not being well aware of the repercussions of such an offense these days. Moreover, it just might be light hearted and not intended in that way, but that still is no excuse for conjuring something like that up anywhere.
Below is the screenshot of the incident:-
As clearly seen, Alena replied with “Negro cabron” to Dembele, which roughly translates to “black bastard”, which some fans did not take very well, and rightfully should not even be.
Alena later on deleted the reply, obviously taken aback by the massive response from the fans and other people in general.
