Parupalli Kashyap came back after losing the first game to France’s Lucas Claerbout to beat him 12-21, 23-21, 24-22 and move on to the last 4 of the Canada Open Super 100.

Kashyap was on the cusp of surrendering to a defeat after losing the first game and also squandering 3 game points in the second. But he held on to take the match into the deciding game. In the decider, Kashyap was once again made to work hard for his win as Claerbout took an early 5 point lead.

The Indian struck back to level the score before going on to grab 2 match points. From here it wasn’t straight forward as Lucas came back to make it 20-20. At 21-22, it looked as though Kashyap would had to settle for a loss. But he then went on to take 3 continuous points to win the game 25-22.

This win sees Kashyap move into the semi finals where he will face Wang Tzu Wei of Chinese Taipei for a place in the finals.

Meanwhile Kashyap’s compatriot Sourabh Verma bowed out of the event after losing 21-15, 21-11 to Li Shi Feng of China.
