Kashyap, who was the sixth seed heading into the tournament lost 22-20, 14-21, 17-21 in the finals where the game lasted an hour and 16 minutes to the unseeded Li Shi Feng of China.

Kashyap did not have a straight forward road to the finals had to take the tough route each time to make it to the next rounds. This time though he started off brightly, managing to win the first game vs the Chinese opponent 22-20.

However as the game progressed, Kashyap began to struggle and eventually gave up the next to games 14-21 and 17-21 to hand over the title.

“Silver it is at Canada Open. It was a good fight in the final. Lost to Li Shi Feng (China) 22-20, 14-21, 17-21. Can’t say it was the best I played this week but overall it was a good week here,” Kashyap had tweeted.

The 32-year-old now will target the US Open Super 300 event for which the qualifiers begin on Tuesday. After getting thumped by HS Prannoy in an all Indian finals two years ago, Kashyap will look to go one step further this time around and clinch the title.
