Australian Open 2024: Rohan Bopanna/Ebdeen starts their campaign with a win

The Indian Tennis Star Rohan Bopanna starts off his campaign in the ongoing Australian Open 2024 with a win in Men’s Doubles along with his Australian partner Matthew Ebdeen in round 1. They defeated Duckworth/Polmans of Australia(7-6, 4-6, 7-6).

Rohan Bopanna triumphs in 1st round

Rohan Bopanna, who is competing in his 7th Australian doubles competition, starts the ongoing tournament with a win in a closely fought clash. Bopanna/Ebdeen were put in a tough position in the first set as their opponents Duckworth/Polmans won 5 consecutive games and were on top.

Bopanna/Ebdeen duo then pulled off to win next 5 games and levelled the score line at 5-5. Both competitors won the next 2 games to decide the set winner through a tie breaker. Bopanna/Ebdeen sealed the first set after winning the tie breaker with 7-5.

The second set involved neck to neck finishes in the first 8 gmaes as both the pairs won 4 games each. Duckworth/Polmans duo went to clinch the final two games as they evened the first two sets.

The third set produced another close finish just like the first one, which involved another tie breaker. Both the duos managed to level the set at 6-6. The second tie breaker consisted of 10 points and the experienced Bopanna/Ebdeen pair dominated the match point tie breaker with 10-2.
