Australia has finally ended the ODI series against India on a winning note as they defeated India 3-2 in the five matches ODI series. Aaron Finch led Australian team fought back brilliantly in the last 3 ODI’s after trailing 2-0 in the first two matches.
In the 5th ODI which was played in Feroz Shah Kotla, Australia set a target of 273 which India couldn’t chase as they were all out for 237 and ended up losing the match by 35 runs.
This was also a historic victory for Australia as this was their first series win in India in nearly a decade. This was also India’s first series defeat since 2015.
Australian captain Aaron Finch said that this series win against India was incredible.
“It’s unbelievable. The resilience and the fight that we showed was incredible. We’ve had our backs against the wall for a while now, but I’m really proud of the group for coming back,” Finch said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
“It’s important to have a balanced side. We need a good balance of attack and defence. You need good batsmanship on these wickets against these really talented guys like Kuldeep, Chahal and Jaddu,” Aaron added.
“Like I said, people have written us off for quite a while now but the team that we have can win us the series, and they can win us the World Cup. It’s about believing in ourselves and sticking to our gameplan. It was a great series all round even though India beat us resoundingly in Nagpur,” said the captain.
