Following a successful T20 series victory against Sri Lanka, Team India will be welcoming their historical rivals Australia in the three match One Day International series that will kick off tomorrow at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. However, former Aussie cricketing superstar Ricky Ponting thinks the visitors will snatch away a series victory this time, and even predicted the final result.

Yesterday, on his official Twitter handle, Ricky Ponting went on an online query session with his followers, just before the commentator’s KFC Big Bash League duty, tweeting a picture from the commentary box with the caption: “Got some spare time before BBL tonight, anyone got any questions? Will try to answer as many as possible”

Questions flew in as fans were asking him about various topics. In the meantime, a Twitter user @Rajumani86 from Chennai asked him to predict the upcoming ODI series. The 45 year old favoured his nation over the hosts.

“Australia will be full of confidence after an excellent World Cup and a great summer of Test cricket but India will be keen to redeem themselves from the last ODI series loss against Australia. Prediction: 2-1 Australia” he tweeted.

While India started the year of 2019 with exactly a 2-1 ODI series win in Australia, the Men in Blues suffered a 3-2 loss against the Aussies in the 5 match ODI series back in March 2019 at home.

Meanwhile, Australia saw themselves ending their 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup run in the semi final, same as India. The winners England defeated them by 8 wickets at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham.

However, the 2003 World Cup winning skipper had divulged his praise on Indian opener Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai Indians captain who will be a fundamental hitter or Kohli and team to put up stunning knocks in the upcoming series, had Ponting as coach of the Indian Premier League side from 2014 to 2016.

After a question on Rohit about his captaincy, Ponting wrote: I rate @ImRo45 exceptionally highly as a batsman and leader. His captaincy record in the IPL speaks for itself”

Rohit captain the Mumbai Indians to lifting the IPL 2019 trophy, their fourth time in the history of the tournament. The 32 year old is also the skipper with the third most highest IPL match wins as a captain, registering 60 victories behind Mahendra Singh Dhoni (104) and Gautam Gambhir (57). However, the Mumbaiker has a better win to loss ratio than Gambhir.
