On Wednesday Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell confirmed his engagement to girlfriend Vini Raman through Instagram. The right-handed batsman revealed that the couple got engaged earlier in the day while captioning it a subtle ring emoji. The 31-year-old was not selected for the Australian side which is touring South Africa at the moment, after picking up an elbow injury.

An explosive batsman from Victoria, Maxwell stepped down temporarily from the game due to mental health issues in October last year.
However, he later revealed that in fact his girlfriend was the first to suggest getting checked by a professional when she noticed a change in him.
“It was actually my partner who suggested I speak to someone, she was the first one who noticed it, so I should probably thank her as well. Once I had that initial conversation it was a big weight off my shoulders,” he said.
The cricketer also credited his girlfriend for standing by him through thick and thin during his initial days with mental health issues.
“My girlfriend was probably No. 1, it wasn’t an easy job for her to deal with me going through my mood swings for the first few weeks, but Michael Lloyd was the guy I had the initial conversation with, he’s been someone who I’ve confided in since back in the academy days, so I’ve known him for well over a decade now.”
Raman also posted the same photo as her fiancé – posing with the engagement ring, as she wrote,
“Last week my favourite person asked me to marry him #YES,”
Chris Lynn, Maxwell’s Australian teammate congratulated the couple on Instagram writing “Congrats big boy!”
Meanwhile, the Kings XI Punjab superstar is expected to sit out for the next six to eight weeks of action, as confirmed by Cricket Australia on February 12. The Melbourne Stars skipper led his side to the finals of the KFC Big Bash League last month.
