The Men In Blue took a huge stride towards a historic series win Down Under after yet another convincing display on Day 3 which saw the play halt due to rain in the final session. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja emerged as saviours for the visitors with 5 wickets amongst them.

After bashing the Australians for two days in the field with the bat, the bowling attack took over the reins to peg back the hosts. After a bright start orchestrated by Marcus Harris, the middle order failed to take advantage of a flat pitch at the SCG.

The middle order comprising of debutant Labuschagne, Shaun Marsh, Travis Head struggled against the spinners. The fall of wickets on a regular basis hurt the Aussies who lost Tim Paine as well by the end of the day’s play.

Peter Handscomb and Pat Cummins survived the late onslaught by the Indian bowlers before covers were called on as a result of heavy rain.

The spinners took charge for the first time this series with the pacers carrying the baton so far. Kuldeep Yadav justified his selection with three crucial wickets.

As things stand, Australia are 236-6 after the end of Day 3 and are still 386 runs behind of India’s staggering first innings total. As a result of the early end on Day 3, the play is scheduled to start early on Day 4 at the SCG.
