French forward Antoine Griezmann is set to end his five-year association with Atletico Madrid and sign with La Liga rivals Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The La Liga runners-up will acquire $139m as a transfer fee.

“I’ve made the decision to leave,” said Griezmann. His former club Real Sociedad will receive around $28m owing to their 20% sell-on fee in his contract.
“I wanted to tell you that I’ve made the decision to leave to experience new things and have new challenges. It’s been very hard for me to take this path, but I feel that it’s what I need,” said Griezmann in a video aired on Atletico Madrid’s official Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook accounts.

“I wanted to thank you for all the love you’ve given me in these five years, in which I’ve won my first important trophies with a club. They were incredible moments that I will always remember. The truth is you’re in my heart,” further added Griezmann.
