Asian Games India’s Day 5 Medals Round-up

India’s medal tally increased as more medals were added on Thursday at the Asian Games Day 5. Shooters Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema and Shiva Narwal won the country’s sixth gold medal in Men’s 10m Air Pistol Team event.

India’s 10m pistol shooters claimed a gold medal and added to the 12 medals they had won in the first four days at Hangzhou 2023, in Wushu.

Roshibina Devi Naorem bagged a silver medal in the women’s 60kg sanda event. Another bronze medal was added by the equestrian rider Anush Agarwalla in the individual event, just two days after he had claimed gold as part of the Indian dressage team.

The Indian men’s football team were eliminated from the Round of 16 after losing 0-2 to Saudi Arabia while the Indian men’s hockey team defeated Japan 4-2. The Indian contingent at the 2023 Asian Games had ended Day 4 at Hangzhou with 22 medals, with five golds and seven silvers.

In tennis, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale entered the mixed doubles semi-final to be assured of a medal while Ramkumar Ramanathan/Saketh Myneni assured India of at least a silver medal in men’s double by entering the final. In Squash, the men’s and women’s teams entered the semi-finals to be assured of a medal each. India also defeated Japan in men’s hockey.
