India showcased an impressive performance in Squash on Tuesday at the ongoing Asian Games 2023. Sourav Ghosal and the mixed doubles pairs of Dipika Pallikal-Harindar Pal Singh Sandhu and Anahat Singh-Abhay Singh made it to the semifinals to ensure three medals.

In Tuesday’s quarterfinals, Ghosal squared off against Japan’s Ryunosuke Tsukue and emerged victorious in straight games, with a score of 3-0. Despite a strong start by Tsukue, who managed to tie the score at 3-3 in the first game, Ghosal ultimately prevailed. However, the Indian squash star would race to a 9-4 lead before closing the game with a scoreline of 11-5.

The second match between Tsukue and Ghosal was highly competitive, with Tsukue proving to be a formidable opponent and managing to even the score at 10-10. Nevertheless, Ghosal regained his momentum and ultimately triumphed with a score of 12-10. In the third game, Ghosal took control of the game and prevented Tsukue from making a comeback, quickly surging to a commanding 7-0 lead.

Ghosal ultimately sealed his spot in the final four by finishing the match with a scoreline of 11-5, 12-10 and 11-3.

Meanwhile, the duo of Pallikal and Sandhu secured their passage into the semi-finals after securing a comeback win over the Phillipines’ Jemyca Aribado and Robert Andrew Garcia. The Indian duo had dropped the first game 7-11 to their opponents before finding their rhythm.
