The Indian quartet secured Gold medal in the men’s 4x400m relay at the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Wednesday. The team comprised of Amoj Jacob, Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Rajesh Ramesh and Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi. They finished with a time of 3:01.58.
India has secured a spot in the finals after posting an impressive time of 3:03.81 minutes in heat 1, outpacing Qatar, Japan, and Iraq. It’s worth noting that India also holds the Area Record for this event, which was accomplished by Jacob, Anas, Ramesh, and Ajmal at the Athletics World Champions in Belgium.
During the competition, the team clocked an astounding time of 2:59.05 minutes to qualify for the finals, where they placed second behind the eventual champion, USA.
