Team India got off to a winning start in the super four stage after a dominating 7-wicket victory over struggling Bangladesh. Yet another stellar display along all the three departments of the game helped ease things for the Blues.
Winning the toss for the first time in the tournament, skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first. The Indian bowlers carried on their excellent display against Pakistan to this game and never allowed the batsmen to settle in.
Ravindra Jadeja, who replaced Hardik Pandya in the line-up announced his return in style with an economical four-wicket haul with pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah providing good support to the left-arm spinner. Despite the wickets column remaining blank for the spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, they helped the case by keeping things tight. The collective bowling performance resulted in Bangladesh folding out for 173.
Skipper Rohit Sharma continued his fine touch with the bat with yet another fifty to his name, The Hitman remained unbeaten on 83 as India cruised to the total with over 13 overs to spare. Shikhar Dhawan and MS Dhoni played second fiddle to the captain with knocks of 40 and 33 respectively.
Things are about to get rough for Bangladesh as they cannot afford to lose another game. Meanwhile, India will gear up to face Pakistan yet again where a win would ensure a place in the final of the competition.
