Ashwin’s journey from a promising debutant to one of the world’s leading spinners has been nothing short of remarkable. Cricket legends, including Sachin Tendulkar, extended their heartfelt wishes. Tendulkar, the pioneer in playing 200 Test matches, conveyed his best wishes through a special congratulatory post on social media. Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer also lauded Ashwin’s passion and perseverance for red-ball cricket. Anil Kumble, whose record of leading wicket-taker in home Tests was surpassed by Ashwin, congratulated him and expressed pride in his achievements.

Ashwin, who made his Test debut in 2011, has been a significant contributor to India’s success over the last decade, especially at home. He has claimed 507 wickets in 99 Tests at an impressive average of 23.91. His journey from his debut to his 100th Test match is a testament to his dedication and commitment to the sport.

Before the match, the Indian Team Head Coach Rahul Dravid presented a special 100th test cap to Ashwin. The Indian team gave a Guard of Honour to the Bowling maestro, before taking the field.
