After courting the out of favour yet popular Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez for over a month, Premier League side Arsenal have officially announced the signing of the Spaniard on this month’s transfer window’s deadline day. The midfielder will be reuniting with his former manager Unai Emery, and this time at Arsenal.
Suarez became the Gunners’ first loan signing of this month’s transfer window, and this year overall, as he swapped Camp Nou for the Emirates. The 25-year old midfielder has agreed to stay in north London for the remainder of the season, with Arsenal having an option to buy for a £25m fee at the end of the season, should they feel so.
The move sees the Spain international reunite with manager Unai Emery, with whom he spent time in Spain at Sevilla.
Suarez moved to Sevilla, under Emery, in 2014 from Barcelona as part of a swap deal which saw Ivan Rakitic go the other way, and the deal seemed to work out very well for the Spaniard, who saw regular play time under fellow Spaniard coach, and was part of the team which one the Europa League 2015.
Emery will be hoping to make the most of the signing to salvage whats left of Arsenal’s campaign this year, and hope that Suarez decides to stay long term.
