“I am feeling completely recovered,” Arteta said in a statement released by the club’s official website, two weeks after the Spanish coach was tested positive on 12th March.

Arteta said the confirmation came after Arsenal faced Greek side Olympiacos in their Europa League round of 16 match on 28th February at home, and it was also the time when he felt having the symptoms.

“It’s true I started having some symptoms when we got the phone call from the club (Olympiacos) to let us know that we might be exposed to the virus… I don’t know, I felt something within me, that I had it.”

Arteta believed the symptoms to be regular, just like another cough and cold with a little discomfort in chest and dry cough, in addition to some amount of high temperature.

Although, after the confirmation from Olympiacos and testing positive, the former Gunners stalwart himself was a a little frightened.

The 38 year old continued: “Then you realise, ‘Wow, everybody can be exposed here, this is very serious, and you start to think about the people that you’ve been in contact with and the other people that can be related to us. That’s when a bit of fear comes.”

The fear was also there for his family, Arteta added, especially with his three children, who fortunately didn’t contract the virus, along with his wife and their nanny.

“The difficulty is that I have people at home, three kids as well, and I was worried. My missus has been through it and my nanny’s been through it. Thank God, the kids never got it. We are all completely fine now.” the former midfielder concluded.
