Arnab Goswami deems Sachin Tendulkar ‘Anti-National’ after his opinion on India-Pakistan WC clash

February 14th marked a black day for India after the Pulwama attack saw 40 CRPF personnel lose their lives. Following this tragic incident, the relations with Arch-Rivals Pakistan has gone haywire. Apart from other sectors that have taken a considerable hit, the cricketing ties between the two countries has hit a dead end.

The two countries were to face each other in the World Cup at Old Trafford in June but the game now stands in the line of being called off after the Indian team was rumoured to boycott the game. In awake of these rumours, the nation’s cricketing legends Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar voiced their opinions.

While half of the nation is supporting the decision to boycott the match as a mark of respect to the lives lost in the attacks, both Gavaskar and Tendulkar suggested that the side take on Pakistan and beat them, thereby not giving them two free points.

“India has always come up trumps against Pakistan in the World Cup. Time to beat them once again. Would personally hate to give them two points and help them in the tournament. Having said that, for me India always comes first, so whatever my country decides, I will back that decision with all my heart,” Tendulkar has said on Friday.

While many respect Sachin’s statement regarding this issue, Republic TV’s Chief Editor Arnab Goswami did not find it satisfactory. On his debate show, Arnab went on to lash the little master saying that he did not believe in such gods.

Arnab did not hesitate to voice his opinion as he went on to take a dig at Sachin saying that he should have been the first person to come out and say not to play Pakistan in order to pay respect to the martyrs. Also he criticised Gavaskar for his comments and used the hashtag ‘Shame on Anti Nationals’ on his show.

“I don’t believe in any Gods. Sachin Tendulkar is 100 percent wrong. Sachin Tendulkar, if he has any sense, he should realise that he should be the first person to say that don’t play with Pakistan. (Sunil) Gavaskar should be the second person to say that don’t play with Pakistan.

“These people say that we need two points. Both are damn wrong. We don’t need two points. I want revenge for my martyrs. Sachin Tendulkar can take his two points and put it in the dustbin,” Goswami said.
