Arjun Tendulkar made his much-awaited debut in the Mumbai T-20 League for his team Aakash Tigers at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The all-rounder was picked by his side for Rs 5 Lakhs, making him the costliest buy in the auctions. There was a lot of hype for the little master’s son’s debut in the league, and he did not disappoint and contributed both with the bat and the bowl in order to secure a victory for the Tigers.
The opening encounter of the league saw the Aakash Tigers go head to head with the Triumphs Knights. Arjun Tendulkar, who made the cut into the playing XI was handed the responsibility to bowl crucial powerplay overs, and he lived up to the faith shown by skipper Dhaval Kulkarni by dismissing Knights opening batsman Karan Shah in his first over.
Tendulkar ended his spell with 1/21 in the 3 overs that he bowled. Moreover, he was also sent in at the vital number 3 position where he scored a quick 23 off 19 balls. Riding on a solid start from their openers Kaustubh Pawar and Aakarshit Gomel, the ultimately chased down the targets with 3 balls to spare.
Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli, who played with Arjun’s father Sachin Tendulkar and is his childhood friend, also praised Arjun and took to Twitter to share his happiness. Kambli’s wrote:
