While Team India have been taking on England in a full-fledged series where they started the journey with a defeat, former India player Wasim Jaffer has come in the limelight for some certain allegations. Notably, after Jaffer stepped down as Uttarakhand coach citing interference from the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), officials made allegations on Jaffer that he was being communal. Notably, he took the charge of the head coach of the state team last year in June and also had signed a contract with CAU for one year as well.

In an email to Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), he shared his sadness as the talented players are not getting the opportunity.
“It’s with great sadness that I’m writing this email to inform you all that I would be resigning from the post of head coach of the senior CAU team with immediate effect. If the honorary secretary of CAU would want to inculcate such kind of work environment while not letting me take certain decisions pertaining to the team’s welfare and performance… then I don’t think there’s any valid reason for me to continue as head coach of men’s senior team of CAU,” Jaffer wrote in an e-mail to the association.
However, former India opener has repeatedly denied all the allegations. Meanwhile, former India captain and coach Anil Kumble has backed him after he opened up about all allegations against him during his stint as the coach of Uttarakhand. While doing so, Jaffer had listed out all those against him and clarified about all the allegations which were made against him.
1. I recommended Jay Bista for captaincy not Iqbal but CAU officials favoured Iqbal.
2. I did not invite Maulavis
3. I resigned cos bias of selectors-secretary for non-deserving players
4. Team used to say a chant of Sikh community, I suggested we can say "Go Uttarakhand" #Facts https://t.co/8vZSisrDDl— Wasim Jaffer (@WasimJaffer14) February 10, 2021
While responding, Anil Kumble wrote “With you Wasim. Did the right thing. Unfortunately it’s the players who’ll miss your mentor ship.”

Meanwhile, Sanjay Jha, the suspended Congress leader had earlier tweeted where he asked some of the legends of Indian cricket including Kumble to back Wasim Jaffer and share their views as well. “Will you all please speak up for Wasim Jaffer? If you need any help, I will draft the tweet for you, which you can copy- paste. Your action needs to be on Twitter, public, like during the farm protests. I await your response,” he tweeted while tagging Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma apart from Anil Kumble.
