Allegri pulls a shocker amidst Ramsey’s speculated move to Turin

With Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey’s contract running out at the end of the season, the Welshman was heavily linked with a move outside north London, and Serie A champions Juventus were already favorites to do so. However, manager Massimilano Allegri has shot down those claims and rumors and expressed disinterest in the player.

Ramsey played for the Gunners for over a decade now, and under new management, a new contract with the club was denied and the Wales international would have to eventually leave the club on a free. Among all the suitors of the midfielder, Juventus were the most likely to acquire him.

As per reports in Italy, Ramsey is said to have already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Bianconeri and that his agent will be arriving in Turin to meet with the club’s director and sign the deal. The talks had reached to the point where, should Ramsey move to Juventus this month, defender Mehdi Benatia will be headed to the Emirates as part of a swap.

However, since Gunners boss Unai Emery has downplayed Ramsey’s move this month, the swap is said to be off the table. Now, Allegri has stated that the deal is unlikely to happen altogether.

“He is an Arsenal player and I cannot talk about him, also because the Juventus squad is okay. I do not speak on the market,” he added.

Given his midfield options in Pjanic, Bentacur as well as Khedira and Matuidi, if need be, Allegri might be right about that. However, anything can be expected, as the club themselves appear to be keen on welcoming Ramsey this very month.
