In the 8th match of the Indian Premier League played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad between Rajasthan Royals and Sun Risers Hyderabad ended with SRH beating winning the match by five wickets.
Batting first Rahane-led Rajasthan Royals put up 198 runs on board with Rahane making 70 runs off 49-deliveries and Sanju Samson smashing 102 runs off 55 deliveries and remaining not out.
However, despite scoring a high target, the Royals failed to get the victory as SRH won the match with one-over remaining. For the Sun Risers, David Warner came off guns blazing as he smashed 69-runs off 37 deliveries and hitting nine-fours and two sixes in the process.
Following the match, Rahane praised Warner’s incredible batting and said that it’s difficult to defend any total with in-form David Warner in the opposition.
“I think first of all, we thought 190 plus was very good score. Initially when Sanju and me were batting the wicket looked slow — it was stopping and coming — and we were aiming to get 150 plus. But credit to Sunrisers for the momentum they got in the powerplay.
“when someone like Warner (69 off 37 balls) bats like that, it’s very less margins for the bower,” Rahane said at the post-match presentation ceremony. “They didn’t lose momentum throughout. When he (Warner) got out, Vijay Shankar batted well too,” he added.
