Dusan Tadic has been a revelation for Ajax this season. The former Southampton man has been involved in 53 goals for the Dutch side, which is a ridiculous number by anyone’s standards.
Tadic scored twice against Vitesse on Tuesday, and also recorded an assist for Hakim Ziyech to score. That game took his tally above 50, and he has 34 goals and 19 assists for Ajax in all competitions. His form has coincided with Ajax’s treble hopes.
Ajax are in the Champions League semi-finals, a competition in which Tadic has recorded 6 goals and 3 assists until now. They are also in contention for the Eredivisie title, and they trail. Ajax lead second-placed Eindhoven by three points, but they have played one game more.
Tadic was signed for just £10m by Ajax from English side Southampton, and no one expected him to have the season he has had. To put it into perspective, Tadic was involved in nine goals for the Saints in the last Premier League campaign.
Erik ten Hag has got a bargain, and the 30-year-old has hugely impressed this season. He will be central to Ajax’s hopes as they look to add silverware in the coming months.
