The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has taken a significant step towards ensuring a safe and inclusive environment within the football community. The AIFF Executive Committee has officially approved the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (PoSH) Policy, which is to be implemented with immediate effect.
All you need to know about AIFF’s PoSH Policy
The AIFF PoSH Policy is based on the PoSH Act 2013. It has been meticulously crafted and vetted by the AIFF legal team to adhere to the highest standards of compliance and efficacy. This policy is aimed at ensuring a safe and inclusive environment within the football fraternity.
AIFF Acting Secretary General, Mr. M Satyanarayan, stated that the need for a PoSH policy exclusively for the AIFF staff was much needed. The policy has been drafted by taking policies as per the PoSH Act of 2013 and the policies in a few other organizations as well and incorporating them into the AIFF’s policy.
Mr. Satyanarayan further added that the PoSH policy has been designed in a way that it can be altered and adapted as they go forward. Along with this, they have also planned to have an expert on the PoSH policy to address their staff at least three times a year to keep reminding them of it. He emphasized that it is essential, especially for their junior and women’s teams.

The approval and implementation of the PoSH Policy come at a crucial time when the federation was rocked by allegations of physical assault against its executive member Deepak Sharma. The policy will provide a framework for dealing with such incidents in the future and ensure that all stakeholders in various positions are fully aware of the PoSH policy.
