India’s rising tennis star, Sumit Nagal, has reached new heights in the ATP rankings, attaining a career-high position of 71. This remarkable achievement comes on the heels of his runner-up finish at the Perugia ATP Challenger tournament.
Sumit Nagal’s steady rise to heights
Nagal’s journey up the rankings has been steady and impressive. Just last week, he held the 77th spot, but his recent performance catapulted him six places higher. His consistent play and accumulation of 777 ATP points reflect his dedication and hard work.
As the sole Indian representative in the men’s singles event at the upcoming Paris Olympics, Nagal’s ranking surge is timely. His participation in the prestigious Olympic Games adds to the significance of this achievement.

Nagal’s 2024 season began with a historic second-round appearance at the Australian Open. Although he exited in the first round of the French Open, his focus now shifts to the Wimbledon main draw, followed by the Paris Olympics at Roland Garros.
Nagal’s recent victories include winning the men’s singles title at the Heilbronn Neckarcup 2024 Challenger event in Germany earlier this month. Notably, this was his fourth clay-court title in the ATP Challenger circuit since 2023.
