Paris Sanit-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot has sacked his mother as his agent after a reported €40m deal with La Liga giants Barcelona failed to reach any point of success. The Frenchman has now hired a new agent in his mother’s stead ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
Barcelona were long reported to have been favorites to sign Rabiot in January, after the the Catalonia side were made aware of his intentions of seeking a way out of the French capital. The 23-year old fell out with PSG boss Thomas Tuchel, who has since been casting Rabiot aside to play with the club’s U23 team, much to the discontent of the midfielder.
With the January transfer window approaching, the France international was reported to be on his way to Spain after his mother-agent assured the La Liga champions she will be going over the clauses of the deal.
However, negotiations between the two parties failed to materialize and a €40m deal fell through and slipped by Rabiot in front of his eyes.
With a mere six months remaining on his contract with the Ligue 1 champions, Rabiot eyes righting the wrong and has axed his mother in order to do so and a new agent has been brought in her stead.
Amidst reports of Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool reportedly in the hunt for the midfielder, Barcelona still appear to be in pole position to sign him come summer.
