However, reliable sources have confirmed that these rumors are unfounded. Gill, who was one of the four traveling reserves for Team India, has had no disciplinary issues during his stay in the USA. The decision to release him from the squad is not due to any misconduct but rather a strategic move by the team management.

The team management assessed their requirements for the upcoming Super 8s stage of the tournament. As a result, they decided to release Gill and fast bowler Avesh Khan.
