Diversified Contingent of Indian Athletes at the Olympics

Among the 49 athletes, the entire archery, table tennis, and hockey teams stand united. The six-member archery team and a dedicated rower were the first to check into the Games Village in Paris, setting the tone for India’s spirited participation.

An eight-member table tennis squad, armed with paddles and determination, joins the ranks. The Indian men’s hockey team, with 19 players, carries the legacy of a sport that has captured the nation’s heart for decades.

Ten out of 21 shooters have already reached Chateauroux, approximately 270 km away from Paris. The shooting competition at the Paris Olympics will unfold at the National Shooting Center in Chateauroux from July 27 to August 5.

As athletes settle into the Games Village, they explore its five residential areas, each named after iconic Parisian neighbourhoods: Abbesses, Bastille, Dauphine, Etoile, and Fetes. Electric cars ferry them within the sprawling Village, ensuring convenience and comfort.

With a total of 117 Indian athletes accompanied by 140 support staff, India aims high. The Tokyo Olympics saw India clinch a record seven medals, including the historic gold in javelin throw by Neeraj Chopra. Now, the Paris Olympics beckons with fresh opportunities.
