Manchester United’s goalkeeping coach Emilio Álvarez has been replaced by Richard Hartis, as boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær has been on a heavy reformation of the squad.
The Red Devils are set to confirm within the next day that Richard Hartis, a crucial part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s backroom team of the last decade, is returning to Old Trafford.
Solskjær, who is prominently shaking-up his team for the next season, has decided to show club’s current goalkeeping coach Álvarez the door.
Álvarez is a friend of club’s star goalkeeper David De Gea, who is about to renew a contract of five year, with £350k-a-week deal.
The 47-year-old was hired when José Mourinho joined the club in of 2016 on grounds of his close relationship with de Gea back at Atlético Madrid, and decided not to leave Old Trafford even after Mourinho was sacked last December.
Richard Hartis, who is set to join the club soon, previously worked with Edwin van der Saar as United won the 2008 Champions League title.
The 51-year old has also worked under Solskjaer during the Norwegian’s managerial spells at both Molde FK and Cardiff City.
Hartis also joined The FA as a national goalkeeping coach for the professional development phase in 2016, and even became a member of the coaching staff of the England Under-20s that lifted the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup trophy.
