2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Schedule: India matches, dates, timings

The seventh edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin tomorrow, hosted by Australia. 10 teams will be battling it out from two groups, with India placed in group A, along with Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand and the hosts. The Indian women have been a participant in all six editions of the tournaments before, since its initiation in 2009, but haven’t been crowned champions yet, along with reaching the semis three times. However, the current Indian team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is full of enthusiasm to achieve glory and bring home the maiden T20 world cup trophy.

The tournament will begin tomorrow at the Spotless Stadium in Sydney, as Indian women will be taking on the hosts. The defending champions Aussies, who are hosting the world cup for the first time, have lifted the trophy the maximum no of times, with four titles in total. The match will start from 1:30 pm IST.

The Women in Blue’s second group stage fight is against Bangladesh on 24th February at the WACA Ground in Perth, starting from 4:30 pm IST.

The New Zealand Women are India’s third group stage opponent. Kaur and the squad will be taking on the Kiwis on 27th February at the Junction Oval in Melbourne. The game will start at 8:30 am IST.

Indian Women’s fourth and last group stage match will take place  on 29th February against Sri Lanka. The venue remains unchanged from the New Zealand match, and the match will begin at 1:30 pm IST.

From Group A, the top two teams will qualify for the semi finals, to take on the two semi finalists from Group B, where former champions England and West Indies are placed with South Africa, Pakistan and Thailand.

Both the semi finals are to take place on 5th March at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The final match is scheduled on 8th March at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

India is starting the world cup with a warm-up match victory last Tuesday against Windies Women, successfully defending a total of 107 and winning the match at the Allan Border Field in Albion by 2 runs.
